Emma Woolley is set to join Allianz Commercial as President Global Specialty and UK Region, and will also join the Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE Board of Management, reporting to Thomas Lillelund, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Allianz Commercial.
Subject to regulatory approval, Woolley will join Allianz once her current professional commitments have ceased, no later than February 2027, and will take charge of Allianz Commercial’s Global Specialty lines of business and the UK markets.
Woolley is expected to work closely with the insurer’s regional Presidents to expand Allianz’s Specialty portfolio globally, as well as with its Chief Underwriting Officer, Vanessa Maxwell Neverton, and Chief Distribution Officer, Jeremy Sharpe.
The appointment comes as the carrier looks to further grow its international Specialty business and strengthen its position in the UK.
Woolley is well-known in the re/insurance sector, and brings almost three decades of industry experience across executive leadership, underwriting, compliance, governance, and broking.
She is joining Allianz Commercial from Talbot Underwriting, the Lloyd’s Specialty platform of AIG, where she serves as CEO. Previously, Woolley worked at AIG as Global Head of Marine, and also spent almost six years with Lancashire Group, latterly as CEO of Lancashire Syndicates. Earlier in her career, Woolley held leadership positions at Canopius Group, reinsurance giant Swiss Re, and broker BMS Group.
Lillelund commented: “Our clear ambition is to be the most trusted commercial insurer in the market. The appointment of Emma, as a leading figure in the global Specialty and UK market, bringing extensive leadership and specialty underwriting experience, together with a deep understanding of the UK markets, reinforces our commitment to this goal and to delivering the best possible service for all our stakeholders. We are delighted to welcome her to our leadership team, and I am looking forward to working with her.”
