Global insurer AIG recently appointed Gero Michel, previously Group Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of AIG Re, as its Head of Underwriting Analytics based in Bermuda.
Michel has been with AIG since early 2020, when he joined the firm’s reinsurance arm from Aon to lead the risk office for AIG Re including Validus, AlphaCat, and Talbot Treaty.
It appears that this has resulted in a new role for Michel, who now serves as Head of Underwriting Analytics for the global insurer.
Prior to joining AIG, Michel served as insurance and reinsurance broker Aon’s Head of UK and EMEA Analytics for Reinsurance Solutions, based in London.
He joined Aon from Chaucer Syndicates where he worked for more than four years as Managing Director Copenhagen Office and Senior Treaty Underwriter.
Earlier in his career, Michel worked for Montpelier Re as CRO and Head of Risk Analytics, and also at broker Willis as MD, head of WRN and PD, and at Endurance as SVP, Head of International Cat UW and Reinsurance Cat Analytics.
Before this, Michel spent more than two years with cat risk modeller RMS as VP Head of climate model development, and before this worked at reinsurer Hannover Re as VP Senior Risk Analyst.
